Press Release Public Lecture of the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Suahasil Nazara, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D
Banjarmasin – Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Suahasil Nazara, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D, is scheduled to give a public lecture with the theme “Fiscal Policy Synergy in Encouraging Economic Transformation Towards an Advanced Indonesia” at the FEB ULM Lecture Theater on Friday (29/9/2023). This public lecture is one of the agendas of the Vice Minister Prof. Suahasil Nazara is on a working visit to South Kalimantan Province for 3 (three) days from 28 to 30 September 2023.
The public lecture at the Lecture Theater FEB ULM is scheduled at 09:00 WITA and will be attended by hundreds of ULM students and also from other universities with the Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) according to capacity and will also be broadcast live via YouTube at Lambung Mangkurat University for the academic community. who didn’t have time to register.
The following is Prof.’s profile. Suahasil Nazara, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Prof. Suahasil was born in Jakarta on November 23, 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Economics (SE.) from the University of Indonesia in 1994, then a Master of Science (MSc.) from Cornell University, USA in 1997. In 2003, he earned a Doctorate degree. of Philosophy (PhD.) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign USA.
He has been a civil servant as a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB-UI) since 1999, and in 2009 received the title of Professor in the field of Economics. Within the FEB-UI environment, Suahasil was Head of the Economics Postgraduate Study Program (2004-2005), Head of the Demography Institute (2005-2008), and Head of the Department of Economics (2009-2013).
He was a member of the Minister of Finance’s Assistance Team for Fiscal Decentralization (2009-2011). Suahasil is also active in the Indonesian Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) as an administrator, and has also held the position of Deputy Chair of the Regional Autonomy Implementation Supervisory Committee (KPPOD) in the 2009-2015 period. Other positions he has held are Coordinator of the Policy Working Group at the Secretariat of the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) at the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (2010-2015), as well as being a Member of the National Economic Committee (KEN) Council in 2013-2014.
Since February 6 2015 he has carried out his duties as Acting Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency, and on October 31 2016 he was appointed by the Minister of Finance as the definitive official Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.
On 25 October 2019, Suahasil was officially appointed by President Joko Widodo as Deputy Minister of Finance to accompany the Minister of Finance in the Advanced Indonesia cabinet. President Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin officially inaugurated Suahasil along with 11 deputy ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday, 25 October 2019 at 14.00 WIB.
