Rector and Executive Director of BI Representative Office for South Kalimantan Province Support Digitalization Ahead of Pomnas XVIII
Banjarmasin – Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) is one of the non-cash payment methods that is popular among the public. Through QRIS-based payments, someone doesn’t need to be afraid if they don’t have or don’t have enough cash in their wallet. Just by using a device, all transactions can easily be carried out, especially QRIS-based payments, as long as the device user already has an active mobile banking account. The use of QRIS can be found in many places, such as in various shops (restaurants, supermarkets, etc.), tourist attractions, and you can even use this payment method to make donations.
QRIS is a national QR code standard introduced by Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) on 17 August 2019. The aim of QRIS is to facilitate payments using QR codes in Indonesia in an easy, fast and safe way. All payment system operators are required to implement QRIS if they want to use QR code payments. With QRIS, all payment applications from providers, both bank and non-bank, can be used in various places. Another benefit of using QRIS is that payment transactions are easy and fast. Buyers or users of QRIS services don’t need to bother carrying cash and waiting for change, everything has been designed so that the activities we carry out can be completed in one hand, and the level of security is also high, because QRIS is designed with high security standards, making it easier for traders to accept non-cash payments from various supported payment applications, and is definitely more practical.
Therefore, the Executive Director of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for South Kalimantan Province, Wahyu Pratomo, is also trying to realize the implementation of the use of QRIS in the Lambung Mangkurat University campus environment by holding an audience with the Rector of ULM, Prof. Dr. Ahmad, S.E., M.Si on Tuesday (12/09/2023). Moreover, ULM has human resources that make it possible to make the QRIS-based payment method a success. In line with that, according to the Rector, this meeting is the right time for BI because the POMNAS activity will soon bring in at least 10,000 participants from all over Indonesia. This is the right moment for BI to be able to facilitate tenants at the POMNAS implementation event later with QRIS facilities according to the bank they own. He also really appreciates the hope of the wishes realized by BI because it is a positive and very creative thing in order to support the existing world of digitalization.
Apart from that, BI also plans to hold a national seminar related to the programs launched by BI at ULM by inviting resource persons from BI and OJK and the main Commissioner of Oppo to educate especially new students who will have at least 500 participants at the seminar. The implementation was carried out at ULM with the aim and objective that students who were considered as driving forces could inform the wider audience.
