ULM Students Teach Children of Migrant Workers in Malaysia

Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is currently preparing to send students to educate the children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia in a humanitarian program initiated with the Council of Chancellors of Indonesian State Universities (MRPTNI). and INTI International University Malaysia.

ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., while attending an event in Jakarta, Thursday (3/8/2023) said that this collaboration would be facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) Kuala Lumpur. “This program is planned to be implemented sooner this year, now ULM is selecting students who are interested in joining an international program,” said the Rector.

The Rector hopes that the students who will be selected will be those who have qualified competence as well as high integrity and dedication, considering that the activities carried out are a humanitarian program. “Surely this is a valuable opportunity as part of the internationalization of the Merdeka Learning and Campus or Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program,” he explained.

MRPTNI, as is known, sent teacher assistance to Indonesian schools (CLC) in Malaysia. In total there are 16 State Universities (PTN) including ULM that are partnered with MRPTNI to make this international collaboration program successful.

The Community Learning Center (CLC) is a center for learning activities for the Indonesian people, which was formed at the initiative of the local community, especially oil palm plantation companies and local communities in Sabah-Sarawak and is supported and fostered by the Indonesian government.
