BOPTN Budget Increases to Encourage Implementation of Research and Community Service

Banjarmasin – University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has just received State University Operational Assistance (BOPTN) for 2023. This was stated by ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., at a coordination meeting held by the Bureau of Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations on Thursday (3/8/2023) in the Meeting Room on the 3rd floor of the Banjarmasin ULM Rectorate Building.

State University Operational Assistance (BOPTN) is financial assistance from the government given to state universities to be able to finance the shortage of educational operational costs including for research, which can directly or indirectly improve the quality of graduates but is constrained if all of them are collected from students.

Based on the Ministerial Regulation issued by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Number 12 of 2019 concerning Operational Assistance for State Universities, it stipulates that the use of BOPTN funds, among other things, is only used for conducting research and community service. The use of funds for non-research can be used limitedly, including for maintenance costs of PTN assets, addition of practicum/lecture materials, procurement of library materials, quality assurance, implementation of student activities, financing of power subscriptions and services and rental, implementation of supporting activities for Education, ICT development in learning, honorarium for non-PNS lecturers and staff, procurement of infrastructure, implementation of internal supervisory unit activities, and operational financing of PTN hospitals.

ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., said it was important to make a priority scale for distributing the use of BOPTN funds. He also advised work units to make mature and strategic program designs to maximize budget absorption.
