ULM Free UKT Advanced Study for the Best Graduates
Banjarmasin (ANTARA) – University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has waived the payment of Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for further studies for the Postgraduate Program for the best undergraduate graduates at the 112th Graduation Ceremony in 2023 which was released today in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan. “So 13 people who hold the title of best graduate are exempt from UKT for one year and get a 50 percent discount the following year if they continue their studies to a higher level,” said ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarbaru, Tuesday.
According to him, this policy is the second time it has been rolled out after it premiered during the 111th Graduation in May 2023. The Rector also invited the best alumni to continue their education at ULM to achieve the highest academic degree up to doctorate (S3). Likewise, undergraduate graduates with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 and above are also given special prices for UKT as tuition fees that students must pay each semester.
The Rector said the UKT relief policy was a breakthrough so that it would attract more undergraduate graduates to continue their studies at the master’s program and even the doctoral program. This is in an effort to create superior resources through higher education institutions that do not only have bachelor degrees (S1) but also master degrees (S2) and doctoral degrees. On the other hand, the percentage of alumni whose further studies are included in the Main Performance Indicator (IKU) assessment that must be met by state universities (PTN) such as ULM, where one of them assesses how many undergraduate graduates continue their studies to masters. Moreover, every Postgraduate student is required to carry out international publications which automatically encourage KPI achievement, so that the compensation given by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to ULM is getting bigger.
