Ashfa Hayyi, Fkah Roji, and Syaipul Rizal Defend the General Champion Titles in the 2023 Bali XVI Beach Trail Competition (LSPB XVI)
BANJARMASIN – The weight training carried out by Syaipul and his friends by carrying a 5 kilogram bag, became one of the provisions that led the Nature Lover Student (Mapala) from South Kalimantan, to win the beach hopping competition in Bali. Mapala is not only an organization that focuses on activities in nature. Many positive activities and achievements have also been made to make the campus proud, even at the national level to make the region proud. This was felt by UKM Mapala Fisipioneer Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lambung Mangkurat (MPAF FISIP ULM). Various competitions that won the champion and dozens of competitions that have been followed. Even in July 2023, Mapala Fispioneer managed to defend the overall champion in the 2023 Bali Beach Walk Competition (LSPB XVI). “Alhamdulillah this year we were able to maintain the rotating trophy championship, previously in 2019 we also took part in the Bali Beach Walk competition, where this competition took place. every two years,” explained Abdul Latif, Head of the ULM Fispioneer Nature Lover Student.
Furthermore, in the previous month of the same year 2023, from Mapala Fisip ULM, he also won 2nd place in the best lanting. Also, 3rd winner of the best regional oration in South Kalimantan at the Cleanliness of the Martapura River event with the name BASUMAP competition held by Mapala Green Justice STIH-SA. There are various competition activities that can be participated in through UKM Mapala, both in the realm of cleanliness championships, and sports. “Previously in sporting events we participated in rock climbing, rafting and other competitions,” he added. According to Abdul, by involving its members in competitions as a form of achievement activity, not just UKM as a gathering place.
“While participating in a competition like this is one of the means to make the name of the faculty and university proud. Moreover, being able to win at the national level, can make the name of the region proud,” he said. Apart from that, discussing his team’s tips and processes in the beach gliding competition, admittedly, was not easy. They initially had to follow the selection stage. After getting the names that took part in the selection, they will be included in the team, and they must practice regularly both for members and for team cohesiveness. The team members selected were Ashfa Hayyi, Fkah Roji, and Syaipul Rizal. In the training process, the team had to practice by running a distance of 5 km in about 2 hours, carrying a bag weighing around 5 kilograms.
“Bringing the 5 kilogram weight as part of the exercise. Because at the competition they have to carry a bag filled with 1.5 liters of water, a first aid kit and other equipment weighing around 5 kg,” he explained. And during the beach-walking race in Bali, which was taken from the starting line at German Beach to the finish at Yeh Gangga Beach, the team had to travel 20 kilometers. At that time they had to qualify in three assessment categories, including speed and accuracy between posts. “Alhamdulillah, this year we won the beach scouring competition,” he said.
