ULM’s 65th Anniversary in 2023
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) commemorates its 65th Anniversary in September 2023. The theme for the 65th ULM Anniversary is “Synergy and Collaboration for Dignified ULM”

Lambung Mangkurat University was founded in 1958, to be precise 21 September 1958 with the first University President (Chancellor), namely Lt. Col. H. Hasan Basry. Initially ULM (formerly Unlam) only consisted of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Social and Political Affairs, and Faculty of Islamology.
Now ULM has 11 Faculties and Postgraduate Studies consisting of 114 study programs. ULM also has around 30 thousand students with 84 professors and this will continue to increase over time. ULM as the oldest state university in Kalimantan continues to make efforts to improve and develop in the field of education by continuing to increase its collaboration and achievements.
Lambung Mangkurat University has a vision: “The realization of ULM as an open and competitive university in the field of wetland environment”.
The ULM mission has been established together with the ULM Vision as stated in the Chancellor’s Decree number 623/UN8/KP/2015 dated 27 February 2015. The ULM Mission Formulation is:
- Organizing Tridharma Higher Education that is just, equitable, quality, and relevant to the development of science and technology which focuses on superior programs for the environment of wetlands;
- Carrying out strengthening of university governance based on good university governance, developing institutions, improving the quality of human resources and infrastructure;
- Organizing character-based education from waja to kaputing or wasaka (staying enthusiastic and strong like steel from start to finish) and internationally competitive;
- Organizing cooperation with various domestic and foreign universities, central and regional governments, business and industry, as well as other stakeholders at the national and international levels.
