The Republic of Indonesia’s Film Censorship Institute Continues to Enliven the Independent Censorship Culture
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) had the opportunity to receive a visit from the Film Censorship Institute (LSF) of the Republic of Indonesia to carry out an Independent Sensor Culture Socialization activity in South Kalimantan Province on Wednesday (26/07/2023). The theme of this socialization activity is “Cerdas Memilah dan Memilih Tontonan”.
Present at this event were ULM Rector Prof. dr. Ahmad, S.E., M.Si, Major General (Purn) Dr. Ahmad Basuki, as well as the Head of the Central KPI Ubaidillah, M.Pd who attended via Zoom. South Kalimantan traditional leaders, students from universities in South Kalimantan, and high school students in the Banjarmasin area were also invited to attend this activity.
LSF brought in 3 speakers at the same time for this activity namely Ahmad Yani Basuki, M.Sc as Chairman of Commission II LSF RI for Law and Advocacy, Zainal Muttaqin as Founder of the Shakila Project producer of the Sapakawanan Project, and Evri Rizqi Monarshi as Commissioner in the field of institutionalization
The Rector of ULM in his speech was honored by the presence of LSF at ULM. According to him, this activity would benefit ULM’s academic community and all invited guests who attended.
“The educational process carried out through today’s socialization will educate academic people at ULM, not including friends outside ULM and friends in foreign cinema,” said the Rector.

The nation’s defense strategy is very fundamental, maintaining our nation’s cultural civilization. Hopefully this nation will continue to exist forever as the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia which is not divided into pieces, the role of the film unites the perceptions of divisions and challenges that will be faced by the Indonesian people
Film is one part of educating the life of the nation, the people of Indonesia. Therefore, sorting and choosing shows is very necessary. The Film Censorship Institute is a state institution formed based on the Film Law whose job is to protect the public from the negative impacts of film, but on the other hand it must also encourage film production to develop more advanced so that it can become a stronghold in fostering culture.
Therefore, through this socialization, LSF hopes that filmmakers can be wiser in sorting out and choosing shows according to their age and continue to carry out independent censorship for themselves and their relatives around them.
The event ran smoothly, the invitees seemed very enthusiastic to hear the presentation of the three speakers. Not only that, they also actively asked questions after the discussion session was over.
