General Lecture on Leadership with Branch Heads of PT. Jasa Raharja South Kalimantan
Banjarmasin – Lambang Mangkurat University (ULM) was honored to be able to hold a public lecture which was attended by the Head of PT Jasa Raharja South Kalimantan Branch, Benyamin Bob Panjaitan as the speaker. This activity was held at the Lecture Theater of the Faculty of Economics and Business with the theme “Lead Yourself To Be The Next Leader” on Monday (26/06/2023).
The event which was attended by ULM students focused on sharing knowledge related to leadership which is also an ongoing program from PT Jasa Raharja in collaboration with ULM. Through this event, it is hoped that presenters can share experiences and material with students as the next generation of the nation where students are one of the strong opinion leaders in society.
In his material, Benjamin Bob explained that being a leader is a hope for every human being. He said the students who attended this event also gained knowledge in order to prepare themselves to enter society and become leaders in the future.
According to him, philosophical leadership is not a result that is achieved personally but by the individual’s ability to achieve results from worthy parties under his supervision and the influence emitted by parties related to him. In other words, the leader cannot work alone. A leader must be able to be a positive influence on his environment, be a role model, and every word can be aligned and with integrity.
One of the elements of leadership is that the leader has the authority to lead and delegate tasks so that the members under him have missions, goals and targets, which are then realized according to the cultural foundation and philosophy of the organization.
Reflecting on the theme, the ability of a leader must be able to analyze problems and draw conclusions, arrange to select and place the right people and be able to organize their work. A good leader is a leader who identifies existing problems. Leadership characters must have good intelligence, communication skills, educator skills, emotional control, have motivation to achieve, self-confidence, must have good ambition and also be disciplined.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain new knowledge about how to motivate students to become high achievers. How do we set ourselves up for discipline. We must get used to living with discipline.
