The Rector Orders the PPKS Task Force to Move to Investigate Alleged Cases of Sexual Harassment
Banjarmasin, Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M,Si ordered and ensured that the outpouring of the female student who was suspected of being a victim of alleged sexual harassment would be followed up immediately. “I asked the ULM Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS) chaired by Dr. Lena Hanafiah (ULM Faculty of Law lecturer) to immediately move to investigate this alleged sexual harassment,” said the Rector, Tuesday (31/1/2023).
The Rector’s order followed allegations of sexual harassment experienced by female students, after their uploads became the talk of netizens on social media (social media). According to him, with the presence of the PPKS Task Force at ULM which was formed based on Permendikbud Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education and ULM Rector Regulation Number 001/2022, many cases have been legally resolved. “We also respond to viral news circulating on social media (social media) by personally contacting female students who are suspected of being victims of sexual harassment,”.
The Rector emphasized that the PPKS Task Force was intended to prevent, advocate for and follow up on reports of victims of sexual harassment, especially female students studying at the fighting campus. “In dealing with the problem of sexual violence on campus or experienced by students, of course this becomes our concern. Moreover, this is also the main program of the Ministry of Education and Culture,” the Rector emphasized. He hopes that by tracing and investigating from the ULM PPKS Task Force, if later it is proven that there are persons or perpetrators of violence or sexual harassment then they must be rewarded with applicable legal sanctions. “Of course we encourage cases of sexual harassment to be resolved through legal channels,” said the Rector.
Meanwhile, the Head of the ULM PPKS Task Force, Dr. Lena Hanafiah, admitted that she immediately followed up on the Rector’s orders. Including, the suspicion of an ASN carrying out exhibitionism (showing off genitals in a public place). Especially in the area of Jalan Brigjen H Hasan Basry, Kayutangi near the ULM campus environment. “We have also collaborated with the Banjarmasin Police Women and Children Service Unit (PPA), in following up on reports of alleged violence or sexual harassment, especially those experienced by ULM students,” concluded Lena.
