ULM Improves Preparedness to Host 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS

Banjarmasin – University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) is finalizing the readiness of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) to host the 18th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) in 2023 which is planned to be held next October. “We are continuing to coordinate the formulation of the local committee so that the readiness to organize POMNAS is more optimal,” said ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Saturday.

According to him, communication with local governments is important because POMNAS actually represents each province, not on behalf of the university where the athletes come from. Then coordination with the central government also continues through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) as the central committee of POMNAS.

Apart from being successful as an organizer, South Kalimantan as the host also hopes to achieve maximum results in achieving achievements at this prestigious event for athletes who come from students. Especially at the 2022 POMNAS in West Sumatra, South Kalimantan was only able to rank 22 out of 34 provinces by winning one silver and seven bronze medals. “ULM itself is committed to sending its best athletes to lift South Kalimantan’s achievements this year,” said the Rector.

It is known that last year’s 17th POMNAS at Padang State University (UNP), Padang City, DKI Jakarta came out as the overall winner getting 49 gold, 33 silver and 33 bronze.
