ULM Representative Passes National Level Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI)

The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Representative Team won as the Best Team I in the Indonesian Student Debate Competition (KDMI) Regional Level V South Kalimantan in 2023. For this achievement, the team from ULM has the right to advance and compete in the National Level KDMI event which will be held from 11 to 18 September 2023 at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University.

In addition to winning as the Best Team I, each member of the ULM team also won achievements in the KDMI Region V 2023 event. Bhisma Ridho Romadhon won the title as Best Speaker 2, while Axella Aura Nauli Hutajulu won the title as Best Speaker 3. Bhisma and Axella is a 2021 Undergraduate Medical Study Program student at the ULM Faculty of Medicine.

KDMI is a debate competition event held annually by the Indonesian Talent Development Center, National Achievement Center, Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. This activity was first held in 2018 and has become a positive opportunity for students throughout Indonesia to show their best abilities in critical thinking and communication, increase self-confidence, develop networks between universities, and foster a sense of unity and pride in the nation and culture.

A debate competition event that requires participants to have broad knowledge and good Indonesian language skills will improve students’ communication skills in interacting. Honing argumentation skills through debate competitions can also improve students’ ability to make decisions based on logical and factual analysis.
