Governor and Rector Launching POMNAS XVIII

Banjarbaru – The Grand Launching of the 18th National Student Sports Week 2023 was officially held at the Auditorium of the University of Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarabaru on Thursday (10/8/2023). The Chief Executive of POMNAS XVIII 2023 who also serves as Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs of ULM Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Sc., said that there are 16 sports that will be competed at POMNAS XVIII 2023. “There are 16 sports that will be divided into 4 points,” he said.

There are 11 sports that will be contested in Banjarmasin, namely athletics, basketball, kempo, bridge, chess, futsal, wrestling, pencak silat, takraw, tennis, and sand volleyball. Meanwhile in Banjarbaru there will be competitions in badminton, karate and taekwondo. In Tanah Laut Regency, there is a rock climbing competition, and a swimming competition in Hulu Sungai Selatan district.

ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., said that the election of ULM as the organizer and the province of South Kalimantan as the host of POMNAS XVIII 2023 will not only be a gathering event and competition between provinces, it will also open up opportunities for the momentum of tourism and MSMEs revival in South Kalimantan.

Previously, the Chief Executive of POMNAS XVIII had confirmed that so far at least 24 provinces had stated that they would participate in all sports. Therefore, it can be ascertained that during the holding of the XVIII POMNAS in November, there will be a surge in visitors in South Kalimantan. “At least we can make sure there are at least 10,000 guests who will come to South Kalimantan later,” said Dr. Rusmin.

Governor of South Kalimantan, Dr. (HC) H. Sahbirin Noor, S.Sos., M.Sc., was present in person at this event to lead the ceremonial Grand Launching of POMNAS XVIII 2023. This launching was marked by pressing the siren button led directly by the governor of South Kalimantan, as well as the launch of the logo and the official mascot of POMNAS XVIII 2023. In his remarks, Governor Sahbirin emphasized, this POMNAS is part of the enthusiasm for the nation’s children, especially young people called students, who today are called millennials, and gather in Bumi Lambung Mangkurat. “We hope that this National Pomnas in South Kalimantan will have a successful implementation and successful achievements. Hopefully it will be useful and a blessing for the people of South Kalimantan,” he said with rhymes.

POMNAS XVIII will be held in November for 10 days from 12 to 22 November 2023.
