Rector: Science and Technology Advancement Don’t Eliminate Local Wisdom of Local Culture

Banjarmasin – Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., was present as a guest speaker at the Public Communication Forum for the Preparation of Master Plan Documents and Roadmaps for the Advancement of Science and Technology. The event took place on Wednesday (20/7/2023) at the Calamus Ballrom Rattan Inn Hotel.

The event was attended by the Secretary of Banjarmasin City Ikhsan Budiman, all SKPD of Banjarmasin City, Academics, NGOs, Koni Banjarmasin and related stakeholders. The event was opened directly by the Regional Secretary of Banjarmasin City, Ikhsan Budiman.

In the material he presented, the Rector of ULM conveyed several important points in the preparation of the Master Plan Document and Roadmap for the Advancement of Science and Technology, including:

We must direct strategic steps in the development of research and innovation.

1. Provide clear guidance on Long-term goals, priorities and steps to be taken to achieve progress in the field of science and technology,
2. Researchers and innovations outside the Pemko such as academia, business, and others, this roadmap is an important guideline, with this roadmap, you can find out the direction to take in developing research, you can see the gap between people’s needs and current capabilities and determine the focus of research that will have a positive impact on society.
3. Assist researchers and innovations in planning the necessary resources. So that it can adjust the budget, manpower, infrastructure, collaboration, with other parties according to the priorities set in the roadmap.
4. This allows researchers and innovations to compete effectively with other countries in scientific development and ensures that their efforts contribute to the progress and prosperity of society.
5. This road map serves as a strategic framework that helps identify Steps that need to be taken to develop science and technology in a particular region or industry.
6. Researchers and innovations can have a clear vision of long-term goals, can determine research and development priorities and allocate resources effectively according to the needs set out in the roadmap.
7. Help improve coordination between researchers in a research and innovation ecosystem, collaboration between academia, business, government, and society. This road map can be a common reference point that allows all parties to work synergistically towards achieving common goals.

He also reminded that in advancing this science and technology so that we do not lose the local wisdom of the local culture, namely the Dayak custom and the Banjar tribe. The event ended with a question and answer session from the participants who attended with the speakers.
