Socialization of Quality Improvement and MSIB Program Bootcamp in Fulfilling Qualified Human Resources
Banjarmasin – University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) held Quality Improvement Socialization and Certified Independent Study Program Bootcamp and Internship (MSIB) Batch 5. This event lasts for 2 days starting from 26-27 May 2023 at the ULM General Building. Present at the opening of the activities of the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si, Coordinator of MBKM ULM Porf. Suratno, PIC of MSIB ULM Prof. Dr. Ir. Hesty Heryani, M.S, Speaker Dr. Nur Abdillah Siddiq., S.T who is also part of the Merdeka Campus MSIB Team, university leaders from Nahdatul Ulama University in South Kalimantan and Cahaya Bangsa University, as well as South Kalimantan students from 3 participating universities.
This socialization was held in order to introduce the Certified Independent Study and Internship (MSIB) program as well as invite students at least who are entering semester IV to join and register in the MSIB Batch 5 Program. This program has been running for approximately 2.5 years. For now, the program is still being mediated by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Dr. Nur Abdillah Siddiq., S.T, who is part of the Merdeka Campus MSIB Team, said the establishment of the MSIB program by Kemdikbubristek was motivated by the high unemployment rate in Indonesia. According to BPS data in 2022, out of 140 million workforce (a person of productive age over 16 years), 8 million of them are unemployed, which is a very large number. When Indonesia can improve the quality of human resources as the theme of this activity, it is possible that Indonesia will become a developed country. For this reason, the Ministry of Education and Culture has initiated the transformation of Indonesian education.
Dr. Nur Abdillah Siddiq added that there are 5 reasons why students should try to enroll in the MSIB Program, namely, students will get work experience in the industry for 1 semester even though students may already have experience of Field Work Practices (PKL) carried out by the campus but it only runs for about 2 month only. Working in the industry not only completes routine work but also projects that might increase company efficiency, students have the opportunity to get a golden ticket to be recruited directly by partner industries, students when carrying out internships will be guided by a mentor for a minimum of 1 week receiving guidance for 5 hours, and activities this program will be recognized as many as 20 credits which will be very beneficial for students who want to have a maximum Grade Point Average (GPA).
