Especially for specialist doctors, where currently the ratio between the availability of specialist doctors and the demand in society is still very far from expectations. “This means that the doctors who took their oath today must prepare themselves to fully serve the community,” he said.
The Dean of FK ULM, Dr. dr. Istiana, M.Kes., in his speech. He advised that being a doctor means having a big responsibility, namely being responsible for the profession, especially specialist doctors. Both general practitioners and specialist doctors have the duty to maintain and improve the welfare of society. “My message to the new specialist doctors is that we have a duty to assist the government in overcoming inequality, which we also understand very well that it is not only a matter of the number of doctors, but also their distribution, equipment, and many other problems that the government needs to meet,” said Dr. Palace.
The lack of availability of doctors, especially specialist doctors, was stated by Taufik Hidayat, S.Sos., M.Sc., Deputy Director of Legal Non-Medical Support and Training at Ulin Hospital, Banjarmasin. “There is a shortage of specialist doctors, so far 40% of RSUD do not have 7 types of basic specialist doctors. The seven specialist doctors who must be in the hospital include internal medicine specialists, obstetricians, surgeons, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, radiology specialists, and clinical pathology specialists,” said Taufik.
As a representative from Ulin Hospital who is also a learning partner of ULM Medical Faculty, Taufik said that Ulin Hospital was also proud to have been a part that made a positive contribution in producing graduates for doctors. Ulin Hospital and FK ULM are like 2 sides of a coin. Ulin Hospital requires human resources, higher education business core education, there is integration between the theory and practice. Providing the best service to service users.
