Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in collaboration with the South Kalimantan Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI Kalsel) held a Consumer Protection seminar on Thursday (14/9/2023) at the Lecture Theater General Building ULM Banjarmasin. The seminar with the theme “Safe and Comfortable Interacting in the Digital Era” is an effort to provide education and outreach to the public and students. This event was also accompanied by the launching of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Goes to Campus.
This seminar was carried out in synergy by presenting resource persons, namely Ricky Satria – Head of the Consumer Protection Group, Department of MSME Development and Consumer Protection BI, Abidir Rahman – Acting Deputy Director of HS, EPK, and Regional Government Partnership OJK Regional 9 Kalimantan, Agus Prasetya Laksono – Head of the Management Sub-Directorate SBSN Projects and Assets Directorate of Sharia Financing DJPPR, and Dyah NK Makhijani – President Commissioner of PT Visionet Internasional (OVO).
As time goes by, the financial sector is also impacted by the development of information and communication technology, one of which is the digitalization of transactions. This digitalization of transactions basically makes things easier for people in financial matters, both during payment processes and banking processes and so on.
However, with this convenience, it is necessary to have knowledge about security and be alert in transactions, to avoid undesirable things. “To date, we at BI have recorded an increase in consumer complaint data related to digital transactions, this shows that the consumer protection aspect is not yet well understood by consumers and administrators,” stressed the Head of South Kalimantan BI KPw, Wahyu Pratomo.
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., in his speech expressed his appreciation and support for the implementation of this activity. He said that it is important to understand the matters and obligations of users and organizers in transaction activities in the digital era. “We support this activity, later we will also try to discuss with various parties to design a special course for the digital economy,” said Prof. Ahmad.
