National Seminar and Scientific Discussion “The Role of Advocate Organizations in Improving the Quality & Professionalism of Officium Nobile Advocates”
Banjarmasin – In connection with the 19th anniversary of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI), the PERADI Banjarmasin Branch Leadership Council held a National Seminar and Scientific Discussion with the theme “The Role of Advocate Organizations in Improving the Quality & Professionalism of Official Advocates” on Saturday (27/01 /2024) which took place at the General Building of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM).
This event invited a number of important figures from Indonesia and also the South Kalimantan region as speakers, namely Dr. H.D. Djunaedi, S.H., Sp.N., M.H (DPN PERADI), Sultan H. Pangeran Khairul Saleh (Commission III DPR RI), Habib Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi, S.E (Commission III DPR RI), Prof. Dr. Anang Shophan Tornado, S.H., M.H., M.Kn (Vice Dean III FH ULM), and Chairman of the Banjarmasin High Court Dr. H. Gusrizal, S.H., M. Hum. Apart from that, DPC Banjarmasin also invited ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad., S.E., M.Si In his speech, the ULM Rector expressed high appreciation for the running of the national seminar which he felt was important as a joint lesson regarding duties and functions.
In this seminar, Commission III DPR RI and the National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Advocates Association (DPN PERADI) discussed the integrity of advocates in accompanying clients facing a case. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to how this seminar can provide provisions not only for advocates but also the wider community. “This event is important for the public to know more about the role of the Peradi organization,” said the Chairman of the DPC PERADI Banjarmasin, Eddy Sucipto.
Advocates are the pillars of law enforcement, so advocate organizations must be independent, free and independent. However, this is also a challenge in itself, where there are many advocate organizations that exist besides PERADI, making it easier for prospective young advocates to obtain their licenses. Therefore, he also supports PERADI’s strategic efforts which will be carried out to increase the professionalism of its members, namely the Single Bar Method.
Furthermore, it is hoped that this event can be a bridge for the Indonesian people, especially South Kalimantan residents and also ULM students, to learn more about PERADI’s role and commitment in guarding clients in cases that occur in the community. Apart from that, this event is also a form of consistency for the PERADI Organization in maintaining the Advocate profession which upholds the values of humanity and justice for Indonesian society which is based on the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, also upholds the principle of the Supremacy of Law and the principle of Equality Before the Law. ).
