FPK ULM Holds National Seminar IX 2023, Discussing Wetland Fisheries Resources
Banjarbaru – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs, Lambung Mangkurat University (FPK ULM) held the National Seminar on Fisheries and Marine Affairs IX on Wednesday to Thursday, 11-12 October 2023. The national seminar held in the Ballroom of the Grand Qin Hotel Banjarbaru took the theme “Wetland Fisheries Resource Management for Achieving SDGs”.
Present representing the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si., Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations at ULM Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., directly opened the activities of Semnas IX FPK ULM. This activity was attended by hundreds of participants with a keynote speaker from the Ministry of Villages PDTT of the Republic of Indonesia, namely the Secretary of the Directorate General of Village and Rural Development, Rachmatia Handayani, ST., MT who attended virtually.
In her speech, Rachmatia conveyed the direction of village and rural area development policies carried out by the Ministry of Villages PDTT.
“The essence and goals of village development prioritize togetherness, kinship and mutual cooperation, to improve the quality of human life, the welfare of village communities, and reduce poverty,” he said.
Rachmatia also explained that among the efforts that can be made to achieve this, namely by enforcing village authority and strengthening village governance, mainstreaming village SDGs in village development, and renewing village development governance.
ULM Vice Rector, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis in his speech expressed his appreciation to the ULM FPK for the implementation of National Semester IX activities which were also included in the series of the 65th ULM Anniversary. He expressed his hope that the national seminar being held could gather various input or recommendations which would later be useful for development in South Kalimantan.
“Wetland fisheries resources are very important for all of us,” said Dr. Yusuf Aziz.
This was also agreed by the Dean of FPK ULM Dr. Ir. Hj. Agustiana, MP. He said that the fisheries sector is an important sector that must be maintained and developed in South Kalimantan in order to achieve food security and improve community nutrition.
This National Semester activity, explained by the Dean of FPK ULM, is an annual routine activity held as a series of ULM Anniversaries.
“This year the seminar will be held on the theme of wetlands, where food security, especially in the fisheries and marine sectors, will be developed towards wetlands. “This is also in accordance with the vision and mission of FPK ULM,” he said.
