Committee X DPR RI Panja meeting with ULM
Rector of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si received a visit from Commission X DPR RI and Acting Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education Research Sri Gunadi Partiwi on Thursday (26/1/2023).
During the meeting, the Rector of ULM discussed and conveyed aspirations to the Commission X DPR RI group regarding the improvement of the higher education system, both public and private. Prof. Ahmad said that there needs to be a policy from the central government that can support improving the quality of tertiary institutions so that they have competitiveness. “We need policies that can encourage tertiary institutions to be more productive, for example the management of tertiary institutions based on local interests,” said the Rector of ULM.
Dr. Ir. H. Sodik Mudjahid, M.Sc., head of the Commission X DPR RI delegation said that at this time it needed strengthening regarding the capabilities of Higher Education, especially in producing knowledgeable, skilled and character human resources. “Several things that we highlight include improving the system and increasing the welfare of lecturers, as well as improving the system for independent student selection. We have also received several suggestions and aspirations from the Rector of ULM,” said Dr. Sodic.
The visit made by Commission X is related to the supervision of the implementation of education where Commission X is a DPR RI Commission that has duties in the fields of education, sports and history. Lambung Mangkurat University as the oldest university in Kalimantan which is also in the main buffer zone of the IKN (National Capital City) has a big role in preparing the development and development needs of IKN, one of which is the need for human resources.
Therefore, ULM continuously strives to improve and develop the quality and quality of its education and human resources in order to realize Indonesia’s golden generation in the 100 years of independence later. The visit and discussion with Commission X DPR RI is one of ULM’s efforts to convey aspirations as well as build synergy with the government in realizing these ideals.
