Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (ULM) Undergoes Accreditation Field Assessment, Focusing on Quality and Innovation
Banjarbaru – The Undergraduate Statistics Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), conducted an Accreditation Field Assessment on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The two-day event, which ran until February 7, took place at the Einstein Hall of FMIPA ULM Banjarbaru. Two assessors from LAMSAMA (National Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) were present: Prof. Dr. Janson Naiborhu, S.Si., M.Si. (Bandung Institute of Technology) and Prof. Dr. Marjono, M.Phil. (Brawijaya University).
Rector Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., also attended and provided remarks and guidance at the opening of the assessment. The leadership of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), including the Dean, Vice Dean, Head of Administration, and lecturers and staff of the Statistics Study Program, also gathered for this event. In his remarks, the Rector welcomed the assessors and emphasized that the field assessment is a crucial opportunity for ULM to continuously improve the quality of its educational delivery.
This visit aimed to evaluate and provide input on policies and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi) in the Statistics Study Program, particularly in the areas of governance, human resources, curriculum, and research. The Rector emphasized ULM’s commitment to implementing quality standards higher than the minimum ministry standards, while also encouraging lecturers to pursue doctoral studies and accelerating scientific publications through university programs. “The Statistics Study Program is one of the most popular study programs every year. Institutional support in providing superior human resources is crucial,” the Rector emphasized.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Janson Naiborhu expressed his appreciation for ULM’s development, particularly its focus on research that produces tangible products for society. He believes that the usefulness of research results is a crucial measure, not just the process.
He also expressed his hope that this assessment would run smoothly, considering that statistics is a key tool for rational and realistic decision-making. The Statistics Study Program is considered to be in its golden age and is highly needed.
Through this field assessment, ULM hopes that the Statistics Undergraduate Study Program will further strengthen the quality of education, research, and community service, and play a strategic role in addressing the needs of data-driven development in the future.
