Banjarbaru – The Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia held the inauguration of Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in sub-districts and villages in South Kalimantan province. The inauguration took place at the KH. Idham Chalid Auditorium in Banjarbaru on Friday (January 30, 2026) and was attended by the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, along with officials from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).

On this occasion, the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., represented the Rector to sign the MoU with the South Kalimantan Regional Office of the Ministry of Law. Dr. Yusuf Azis stated that this collaboration serves as an umbrella for collaboration based on the Tridharma of Higher Education.

“In general, this MoU covers the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. In education, ULM offers opportunities for human resources within the Ministry of Law and Posbankum to pursue Master’s or Doctoral studies. In research, we can also conduct studies related to the role and impact of Posbankum on society,” he explained.

The signing of this MoU demonstrates that ULM is playing a strategic role in supporting the expansion of access to justice for the community. Furthermore, ULM is ready to contribute through community service, particularly legal assistance involving lecturers and students from the ULM Faculty of Law. He believes this synergy aligns with ULM’s mission as a university that is present and provides solutions to community problems.

“In principle, ULM is ready to support this Posbankum program. This is a joint effort to bring legal access and justice closer to village and sub-district communities who may have previously been excluded from legal services,” he added.

The Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurated 2,015 Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in all villages and sub-districts across South Kalimantan as a concrete step by the government to bring legal services closer to the community, especially for vulnerable groups and the underprivileged. The Minister of Law emphasized that Posbankum represents a collaboration between ministries and local governments to provide easily accessible legal services.

“Alhamdulillah, today the Ministry of Law and the South Kalimantan Provincial Government inaugurated 2,015 Legal Aid Posts, which can be utilized by people in all villages and sub-districts. This is a form of collaboration to ensure justice is enjoyed by all levels of society,” said Supratman Andi Agtas.

He explained that Posbankum will provide services ranging from legal consultations and mediation to assistance in resolving legal issues. These services will be run by paralegals, peace judges, village heads, and village heads who have received training. For litigation cases, Posbankum will connect the community with Legal Aid Organizations (OBH) or Legal Aid Institutions (LBH), with state-funded funding for the underprivileged.

During the event, the Indonesian Ministry of Law also presented awards to local governments as a token of appreciation for their commitment to establishing Posbankum (legal aid posts). According to data, there are 2,015 Posbankums spread across 13 regencies/cities in South Kalimantan, with Banjar Regency having the largest number.

Within active involvement of Lambung Mangkurat University, the Posbankum program in South Kalimantan is expected to become more than just an administrative service, but also to develop into a sustainable, educational, and impactful legal aid ecosystem for the community. ULM is optimistic that collaboration between universities, the government, and legal institutions will strengthen the foundation of social justice in the region.
