ULM’s Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Introduces Study Programs to Participants in Flag Raising Troop Training for Banua Enam in Kandangan
Kandangan, HSS – The socialization and promotion of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was held at the Sports and Arts Building in Kandangan, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, on Saturday (January 31, 2026). This activity was initiated by the Dean of FPIK ULM, Dr. Ir. H. Untung Bijaksana, M.P., and involved several lecturers and educational staff within FPIK. The socialization was included in the agenda of the joint Flag Raising Troop training for Banua Enam.
This opportunity was deemed appropriate because the Dean of FPIK also serves as the Chair of the South Kalimantan Provincial Flag Raising Troop, allowing him to directly introduce the study programs at FPIK to dozens of participants. “So, this activity has several objectives. First, the provincial and national level Paskibraka selection, and second, the socialization of study programs at ULM, particularly the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences,” said Dr. Untung. According to him, the ceremony held at the university has not yet become a structured program. However, ideological and national issues are also a key component of successful development.
One of the lecturers in the Marine Sciences Study Program, M. Salauddin, explained that the information provided goes beyond distributing leaflets to providing information on what will be learned during the lectures and general information about the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. “The material presented will cover the environment of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences and the availability of study programs at FPIK,” said M. Salauddin.
Furthermore, the Dean of FPIK hopes that this activity will increase student interest in the fisheries and marine sciences sector and broaden their horizons regarding study options at university. “If possible, alumni of the Paskibraka in South Kalimantan should study at ULM,” he concluded.
