ULM Faculty of Agriculture 65th Anniversary, Ready to Address the Challenges of National Development in the Agricultural Sector

Banjarbaru – The Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held its 65th Anniversary celebration on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, at the Banjarbaru Campus Auditorium. In addition to the anniversary celebration, the event also included a public lecture featuring Special Staff to the Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Ambar Pertiwiningrum, M.Si., Ph.D., I.P.U., ASEAN. ENG, who delivered a presentation on the Contribution of Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives to Achieving National Food Self-Sufficiency and Security.

Also in attendance were ULM Rector Prof. Ahmad, S.E., M.Si., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Akhmad Rizally Saidy, S.P., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., along with staff and academics from the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as stakeholders who have collaborated in developing education and agriculture in South Kalimantan. In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, ULM, stated that in its 65th year, the Faculty of Agriculture remains committed to being a faculty ready to address various challenges facing the nation, particularly in the agricultural sector.

“Faperta plays an active role in overseeing various programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through the consolidation and strengthening of resources through concrete actions in the field,” he said.

Supported by 158 lecturers, the Faculty of Agriculture is one of the faculties with the largest number of professors at ULM. The faculty also continuously strives to improve academic quality and accelerate student study through various mentoring programs and innovations in final project completion that extend beyond the thesis. These efforts are believed to increase the number of on-time graduates each year.

In terms of educational quality, three study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture, ULM—Soil Science, Agribusiness, and Agricultural Industrial Technology—have received international certification, demonstrating the faculty’s commitment to global standards of higher education. Furthermore, the Faculty actively collaborates nationally and internationally with various parties, including educational institutions, local governments, and industry, as a form of collaboration to strengthen research and innovation in agriculture.

In his remarks, the ULM Rector expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the Faculty of Agriculture, which is considered to have a high reputation within the ULM community.

“This achievement was not easy. It required hard work, good synergy, and hard and smart work from all elements of the faculty. This motivates us all to continue to spur competitiveness in the agricultural sector in the future,” said the Rector.

The Rector also emphasized the importance of the Faculty of Agriculture’s real contribution to promoting national food security, a key focus of national development implemented by the government of the Republic of Indonesia.

Concluding the series of events, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture expressed his hope that the entire academic community would maintain a spirit of togetherness and continue to innovate.

“Hopefully, the Faculty of Agriculture at ULM will remain consistent in producing agricultural professionals who can make a real contribution to the advancement of Indonesian agriculture,” he concluded.
