450 Participants from 8 Countries Attend the 2025 KPRC and ICChEAS International Mangrove Conferences at ULM

Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) hosted the 2nd KUUB Postgraduates by Research Colloquium (KPRC) and the 6th International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Applied Science (ICChEAS) 2025, which was combined with the International Conference and Workshop “Borneo Mangroves: The Relationship between Biodiversity, a Sustainable Future, and Carbon Sequestration.”

Held as a hybrid event, this event brought together more than 450 participants from various countries, including Indonesia, Japan, Brunei Darussalam, France, Malaysia, United States, China, and Australia, from October 15 to 18, 2025. Through this forum, ULM strengthened its role as a center for international research collaboration in maintaining the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems and mitigating climate change.

ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., in his remarks emphasized that universities have a significant responsibility to produce knowledge that not only advances science but also benefits society and the environment.

“Through joint research, academic exchanges, and the spirit of KUUB and ICChEAS, I am confident we can contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable future,” said the Rector.

The event opened with an international workshop on “Blue Forests and Circular Solutions,” featuring speakers from various universities and international institutions. The following day, Thursday (16/10/2025), the event continued with an international conference on “Borneo’s Mangroves: A Nexus of Biodiversity, Sustainable Futures, and Carbon Sequestration,” discussing the importance of integrating research and policy in mangrove forest conservation.

Through this international event, ULM strengthens its position as a world-class university committed to strategic research, green innovation, and environmental conservation based on local wisdom.
