Rector Receives Award from South Kalimantan Regional People’s Representative Council for Dedication to Advancing Higher Education
Banjarmasin – The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., received an Award Certificate from the South Kalimantan Provincial People’s Representative Council (DPRD). This award was given as a token of appreciation for Prof. Ahmad’s dedication, commitment, and contribution to advancing higher education, developing research, and strengthening community service.
The award ceremony took place at the culmination of ULM’s 67th Anniversary on Monday (September 22, 2025) at the ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium. DPRD Chairman Dr. (HC) H. Supian HK SH., MH., stated that this award recognizes the concrete efforts of ULM.
ULM, under Prof. Ahmad’s leadership, has consistently driven the transformation of higher education in South Kalimantan. “Since taking office, Prof. Ahmad has emphasized the importance of synergy between academics, government, and the community,” said Supian HK.
This aligns with ULM’s mission as the largest state university in Kalimantan to be present and impact regional and national development.
In the past three years, ULM has recorded several strategic achievements. In 2023, ULM students made history by winning the national Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres), further enhancing ULM’s recognition in academic competitions.
In 2024, ULM strengthened its role internationally through various academic and research collaborations, including student exchange programs with several universities in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, in 2025, ULM became the only university in the world to obtain official permission to manage 611 hectares of mangrove land, a monumental achievement in the field of environment and sustainability.
Furthermore, ULM’s Integrated Laboratory successfully obtained accreditation from the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), strengthening ULM’s position as a center for research and laboratory testing services meeting national standards. In the area of entrepreneurship, the Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW) is a flagship program, supported by intensive funding and mentoring, underscoring ULM’s commitment to developing a young generation with an entrepreneurial spirit.
The Rector stated that this award was not solely a personal achievement, but rather the result of the hard work of the entire ULM academic community.
“I dedicate this award to the ULM family. Our achievements are clear evidence that ULM is capable of competing and making significant contributions, not only to South Kalimantan, but also to Indonesia and even the world,” he said.
