ULM Professor Ranks 32nd Worldwide in Early Childhood Education Research According to the AD Scientific Index

Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved a proud achievement through one of its top lecturers. Prof. Drs. Ahmad Suriansyah, M.Pd., Ph.D., Professor at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) ULM, achieved the 32nd world ranking for Early Childhood Education (PAUD) researchers according to the AD Scientific Index. This achievement was achieved with an H-Index of 31, an i10 Index of 89, and a Citation Count of 4,029.

For Prof. Suriansyah, this achievement is not an end in itself, but rather a manifestation of self-actualization as an academic. “Achieving any achievement is something everyone desires. However, for academics, the greatest satisfaction comes when our scientific work is read and used as a reference by many. Ranking is not the main goal, but rather a contribution to the development of science and technology,” he explained.

According to him, the biggest factors driving this achievement are self-motivation, self-awareness, and self-confidence. Without these three elements, a person’s profound energy will not grow. However, he also emphasized the importance of institutional support and a collaborative work culture within the study program.

“I am grateful to be in an environment with a strong culture of collaboration between lecturers, students, and educational staff,” he added.

During his research journey, Prof. Suriansyah acknowledged that the biggest challenge actually comes internally, namely maintaining the drive to continue being creative and innovative. “Sometimes I have colleagues who are still in their comfort zone. But I see it not as an obstacle, but as an opportunity. I always emphasize to junior lecturers that we all have the opportunity to excel, regardless of age,” he said.

Regarding strategies for strengthening research and publications, Prof. Suriansyah emphasized the importance of collaboration, student mentoring, and partnerships with stakeholders. In the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) study program, research always begins with group discussions to maintain focus on the scientific field. Students are involved in research and even supported in publication and copyright registration of scientific works. Research results are also offered to education offices and PAUD institutions for practical implementation.

Prof. Suriansyah also offered a motivational message to young lecturers and students, urging them not to be afraid to contribute. “Anything we do that impacts education is a continuous charity. If you want to be great, there’s no need to show off. Just show off your work, because quality will make others recognize it,” he said.

The achievements of Prof. Drs. Ahmad Suriansyah, M.Pd., Ph.D. are not only a matter of personal pride but also an inspiration for the ULM academic community to continue developing research and publications that are broadly beneficial, both academically and practically in the field.
