FKIK ULM Introduces the World of Nursing to Nurul Fikri Islamic Boarding School Students in Banjarbaru
Banjarbaru – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) received an educational visit from Nurul Fikri Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) Banjarbaru on Thursday, January 9, 2025. This activity aimed to provide students with insights into higher education, particularly in the field of nursing, and to open opportunities for those interested in pursuing studies in health.
The visit was directly welcomed by Dr. Herawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep, the Coordinator of the Nursing Study Program at FKIK ULM. In her speech, she explained the strategic role of nurses in the healthcare system and how education at FKIK ULM equips students with the skills and competencies needed to become professional medical personnel. The students also received an overview of the curriculum, teaching methods, and career prospects for nursing graduates.
One of the main parts of the visit was a practical session in the Nursing Skills Laboratory, guided by Chrisnawati, BSN., MSN, the Coordinator of the Skills Laboratory Unit. The students were introduced to various laboratory facilities, including nursing skills simulations using patient mannequins and advanced medical equipment.
Besides the technical aspects, this visit also instilled fundamental values in the nursing profession, such as empathy, patient care, and moral and professional responsibility. The students were encouraged to understand that the nursing profession not only requires medical skills but also dedication and care for others.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion, where the students enthusiastically asked various questions about admission requirements, studying experiences at FKIK ULM, and challenges in the nursing field. The positive response from the students showed their great interest in the health sector.
This visit is expected to motivate the students to pursue higher education and inspire them to contribute to the health field. FKIK ULM hopes that similar activities can continue to build positive collaboration between universities and Islamic educational institutions in producing competent and integrity-driven generations in the health sector.
