Four Steven Lase Wins Four Awards at the 2024 International Youth Summit in Malaysia
Banjarmasin – Four Steven Lase, a student of the Sociology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), won four awards at the 2024 International Youth Summit held at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. ULM Rector, Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri, expressed his pride in Steven’s achievements. “Good news comes from FKIP after its students just won international achievements in Malaysia. Congratulations to little brother Steven,” said the Rector.
Steven managed to bring home two bronze medals and two Favorite Poster awards in the competition which was attended by participants from three Southeast Asian countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. This achievement is in line with ULM’s target to become a superior and competitive university at the national and international levels.
“This achievement proves that ULM students are able to compete and excel in the international arena,” added Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri. Steven’s achievement adds to the list of international champions that have been won by ULM students, further strengthening ULM’s position as one of the leading universities in South Kalimantan that continues to produce quality and globally competitive graduates.
The International Youth Summit, organized by the Sentosa Foundation in collaboration with the Nusantara Muda Community, Setara Prisma Nusantara, and the Center of Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability, Universiti Putra Malaysia, is a prestigious event that brings together talented young people from various countries to compete and exchange ideas. This competition not only tests the participants’ academic abilities, but also their creativity and innovation in facing global challenges.
Steven won two bronze medals and two Favorite Poster awards in the essay competition with the theme of food and health. He admitted that this achievement was the result of hard work and high dedication in preparing for the competition. Steven also expressed his gratitude for the support from his supervisor Muhammad Adhitya Hidayat Putra, M.Pd., as well as all lecturers in the Sociology Education Study Program and the ULM academic community who played a major role in his success.
“Hopefully this will be a motivation for other ULM students to continue to develop themselves and dare to compete at the international level,” said Steven.
