‘Bayan Peduli’ Scholarship Program: ULM and PT Bayan Resources Tbk’s Commitment to Students with Disabilities
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) and PT Bayan Resources Tbk have taken significant steps in supporting students with disabilities by signing a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the “Bayan Peduli” scholarship program. This event took place in the ULM Mini Lecture Theater Room, Wednesday (November 20, 2024).
The “Bayan Peduli” scholarship program provides a breath of fresh air for 20 ULM students with disabilities by providing various educational facilities sponsored by PT Bayan Resources Tbk. ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, M.Sc., M.Sc., expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to PT Bayan Resources Tbk for their extraordinary attention and support.
“This assistance is a very meaningful form of support, especially for students with disabilities. This is the largest scholarship ever at ULM,” said Prof. Ahmad.
This scholarship program includes living expenses of IDR 2 million per month for each student, supporting books per semester worth IDR 1.75 million, final project research funding assistance of IDR 5 million, and a laptop to support the learning process.
“With this comprehensive scholarship, we hope that ULM’s disabled students can achieve more and make real contributions in the future,” added the Rector.
This program is very relevant considering that ULM has the second largest population of disabled students nationally in 2024. A total of 20 ULM disabled students are beneficiaries this year. PT Bayan Resources Tbk’s CSR, Ahmad Syahrullah, explained that this program aims to provide wider opportunities for disabled students to be able to access higher education.
“ULM and Sebelas Maret State University (UNS) were chosen as our first partners because we see the high commitment of both universities to students with disabilities,” said Syahrullah.
At UNS, a similar program has been given to 19 disabled students. Syahrullah added that this program is expected to motivate disabled students to achieve their dreams in college. “This program is the first step, and we are committed to continuing to support the education of students with disabilities in various campuses in Indonesia,” he added.
With this collaboration, ULM and PT Bayan Resources Tbk have shown a real commitment to supporting inclusive education. This support not only helps students financially but also provides new enthusiasm for them to continue to excel.
The event, which took place solemnly, marked a major step towards more inclusive education in Indonesia. “Hopefully this program can inspire other institutions to care about the education of students with disabilities,” concluded the Rector.
