Banjarmasin – In order to increase the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), especially IKU 2, ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si., invited all Deans, Heads of Academic Bureaus, all coordinators and Academic Operators of D3 and S1 Study Programs to the agenda of the IKU Achievement Improvement Coordination Meeting on Tuesday, (19/12/2023) at the Faculty Lecture Theater Economics and Business. Apart from that, the Rector’s Special Staff, Prof. Suriansyah, Chair of PTIK, PIC MBKM Team and PIC IKU 2 were also present at this meeting to further strengthen coordination.

This Coordination Meeting was divided into 3 agendas, namely discussion of strategies for Increasing KPI 2, then continued with discussion of Merdeka Campus SKS Recognition, then about Higher Education-based State Higher Education Operational Assistance (BOPTN). The Rector started the meeting by giving a presentation regarding the results of ULM’s IKU 2 achievements up to Quarter 4 of 2023, where it was stated that ULM had only succeeded in realizing around 2.42% of the target of 30% to be able to achieve the minimum IKU achievement. This is the basis for holding this Coordination Meeting.

“In order to increase IKU 2 achievements, we need to follow up on various strategic matters to improve ULM’s performance,” said the Rector. He saw that KPI 2 was the KPI with the lowest level of achievement at ULM. Based on the Rector’s explanation regarding the progress of achieving IKU 2, the Rector hopes to provide awareness to faculty leaders, especially study programs, to be more open in conveying the obstacles that trigger the low level of minimum achievement that can occur at IKU 2. Especially with policy changes from the ministry that creates higher education institutions must also formulate new strategies in order to meet the IKU achievement targets.

Main Performance Indicator (IKU) 2 encourages universities to improve the quality of higher education that focuses on criteria with learning outside the study program which requires at least 20 credits outside the study program. This gives students the opportunity to gain experience outside campus, such as work internships, research, village projects, student exchanges, entrepreneurship, and also through teaching activities. The Chancellor paid special attention to these activities. “Later, we will map out in the study program how much we will allocate to each of these activity items,” added the Rector.

The Rector said that this needed to be done so that ULM could improve its achievements which were still very far from the targets set by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Therefore, campuses are required to provide more facilities for students to develop themselves. Not only studying in class following lectures, but also carrying out learning activities with varied models, and being able to provide adequate skills. The Rector also said that the achievement of 2.42% in KPI 2 was dominated by student achievement.

The Rector hopes that achieving the IKU target can be more focused on various fields and not only student achievements, but also the realization of the Independent Campus Learning (MBKM) program. Through this meeting, the Rector hopes that a mutual understanding can be created between study programs, faculties and the university to recognize Independent Campus credits. “So, for each study program we will set a target for how many people are required to take part in MBKM in order to achieve a minimum IKU 2, which is 30%,” added the Rector.

Based on the joint evaluation, it is known that SKS recognition is also one of the factors causing the low level of achievement of IKU 2 at ULM. This was explained by the Chair of the ULM Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Task Force, that this was because student credit data was not recorded. So there is a need for coordination between Coordinators and Academic Operators of Study Programs, Faculties and Rectorates so that similar incidents do not happen again. The Rector believes that these obstacles can be overcome and overcome by synergizing and collaborating.

This agenda was relaxed but serious, and at the same time included giving appreciation, namely the handing over of certificates and money amounting to 50 million rupiah which was handed over by the Rector of ULM directly to 4 internationally accredited study programs by ASIIN. The four study programs are Soil Science Study Program, Agribusiness, Agricultural Industrial Technology, and Forestry Study Program. Apart from that, awards were also given to the Medical Science study program and the Public Health study program for achieving International Recognition in 2023 in the form of a plaque and 35 million in cash for each study program.
