Commemorating Oeang Republic of Indonesia Day (HORI), the Ministry of Finance Carries Out Earth Care Activities

Banjarmasin – In commemoration of HORI (Oeang Republic of Indonesia Day) which is a historic day for the Indonesian financial world to remember the first time the Indonesian government issued currency, the South Kalimantan Province DJPB Regional Office & Banjarmasin KPPN collaborated with the Barito River Watershed Management Center as well as Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) planted tree seedlings in the yard of the ULM Public Building on Saturday (28/10/2023). Present at the event were representatives of KPPN and BAPPEDAS who also enlivened this activity.

It is hoped that the planting of this tree will be a symbol of the sustainability of the Indonesian currency which will always grow and survive as a legal means of payment and will not be easily shaken by anything. This activity was delivered by the Rector of ULM as a form of concern from friends of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) towards environmental sustainability in the midst of their busy lives.

Head of the South Kalimantan DJPb Regional Office, Syafriadi also revealed that ULM is a very cooperative partner so it is hoped that they will continue to build better relationships in the future.

“Hopefully, this tree will be a sign that we will continue to grow and provide results to the public and society.” said the Head of the Regional Office.

Apart from that, the Head of the DJPb Regional Office also said that they have a BLU called the Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH). BPDLH has the task of managing funds related to the environment, such as mangrove cultivation and those related to forestry policies. He hopes that in the future collaboration between these two agencies can be realized.

ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si., welcomed this intention. He hopes that in the future ULM and BPDLH can conclude an MoU and implement cooperation. Moreover, ULM also has a focus and goals in the environmental sector, especially the wetland environment.

The Rector said that in the future ULM plans to have a 600 ha mangrove area in Kotabaru Regency which will later become the world’s mangrove wetland research center as well as one of the centers for the carbon train in the future.

“This was also done in order to provide guarantees to ULM to increase revenue from the BLU management side,” said the Rector.
