ULM Participates in the Indonesian Education Exhibition in Timor-Leste
Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Public Relations, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., together with Plt. ULM Public Relations Department Andi Nursalam left for Dili, Timor-Leste from 24-26 October 2023. This departure was in order to take part in the Education Exhibition in Timor-Leste organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Timor-Leste.
The educational exhibition will be held for 3 days from 24-26 October 2023 at the Indonesian Cultural Center Building in Dili, Timor Leste. This activity was held by the Education and Culture Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Dili in order to support the internationalization program of Indonesian Higher Education. Through this activity, it is hoped that the widest possible access to information can be opened for the people of Timor-Leste who are interested in continuing their studies in Indonesia.
Through this activity it is also hoped that it can produce significant outcomes such as; (1) attracting potential student candidates from Timor-Leste to study in Indonesia, (2) exploring educational collaboration between Indonesian Universities and Ministries/Institutions/Agencies in Timor-Leste, (3) as well as increasing the profile of Indonesian education in Timor-Leste.
Previously, the Education Exhibition in Dili, Timor-Leste was held in 2022 and was attended by 4,393 visitors consisting of students, teachers, lecturers, college students and the general public. Based on data on the number of foreign students studying/college in Indonesia, Timor-Leste always ranks first in terms of the highest number of students from year to year, where currently 4,125 students from Timor-Leste are studying at higher education levels in Indonesia (Source : Ministry of Education Timor Leste).
ULM’s participation in the Education Exhibition in Dili, Timor Leste is a form of support for the Indonesian government’s efforts to have a positive impact and advance the existence of Indonesian education at the international level. By holding this educational exhibition, ULM can carry out promotional efforts so that ULM is more widely known both at the national and international levels.
In this activity, ULM had the opportunity to make university presentations and display information in the booth provided. ULM representatives also had the opportunity to attend the Gala Dinner with Universidade Oriental Timor Lorosade (UNITAL). Previously, ULM had signed an MoU with UNITAL last September. Among the programs agreed upon in the collaboration between ULM and UNITAL are exchanges of lecturers, students, staff and professors, as well as carrying out joint research.
