Reaffirming Five Professors, Chancellor Targets ULM to Have 150 Professors

Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) again confirmed a number of professors on Thursday (5/10/2023). The event was held in the 1st Floor Hall of the ULM Banjarmasin Rectorate, where the ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si again confirmed 5 new professors at ULM. There is a unique thing about this inauguration, where of the 5 professors who were inaugurated, 2 of them were husband and wife, namely Prof. Dr. Sutomo, SSi., M.Si., Apt., and Prof. Arnida, SSi., M.Si., Apt. The Rector of ULM also confirmed three other professors, namely Prof. Dr. Kissinger, S.Hut., MSi., Prof. Abdul Gafur, M.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Prof. Dewi Anggraini, S.Sc., M.App., Sci. Ph.D.

The Rector expressed his gratitude because for two days in a row ULM confirmed a number of professors. Coincidentally, this time there was a husband and wife who were confirmed as professors at ULM. “A blessing that we must be grateful for is that ULM continues to increase the number of professors from time to time, currently it has reached 114 professors, so we just have to wait for 36 more. ULM can reach the target of 150 professors,” he said.

The addition of professors continues to increase, only in the last 10 months ULM was able to add 43 professors spread across 11 faculties. “Increasing the number of professors is very important to encourage improvements in the quality of implementation of the tri dharma of higher education at ULM, so that ULM can progress further and be able to compete at national and world levels,” he said.

Prof. Ahmad explained that currently ULM already has eight PhD doctoral programs, and the number will continue to increase along with the increase in the number of professors, “Likewise with international accreditation, we will continue to accelerate it and continue to add internationally accredited study programs at ULM. he explained.

The inauguration event was continued with a scientific oration by each of the inaugurated professors, namely Prof Sutomo with a scientific oration “Plants as “Source of medicinal compounds” in Supporting the Development of Medicinal Raw Materials”. Prof. Kissinger, scientific oration “Biodiversity Conservation from the Perspective of Forests as a Source of Medicinal Plants: Case Study: Shorea balangeran (Korth) Burk from Swamp Forest”. Prof. Arnida, scientific oration “Aphrodisiacs in Phytotherapy”. Prof. Abdul Gafur, scientific oration “Biosystematics and Nematodes: Their Potential for Excellence and Competitiveness”. Prof. Dewi Anggraini, scientific oration “The Role of Digitizing Longitudinal Data on Antenatal and Postnatal Examination Results in the Process of Risk Monitoring and Evaluation of Maternal and Child Health in Indonesia”.
