Wasaka Team Car, Faculty of Engineering, Has Once Again Qualified as a KMHE 2023 Finalist
Wasaka Team Car from the Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) qualified as a finalist or top 6 (six) in the Urban Gasoline Internal Combustion Engine category in the 2023 Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE). This is based on an announcement issued by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI ) Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture on Friday (6/10/2023).
The Wasaka Team is a team consisting of a combination of students and lecturers at the ULM Faculty of Engineering. The Wasaka Team has consistently participated in the KMHE every year which is organized by BPTI Kemdikbudristek. In this participation, the Wasaka team also repeatedly qualified as Finalists in the Energy Saving Car Competition.
The Wasaka team’s consistency in participating in the Energy Saving Car Competition is of course supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Rector of ULM. The Wasaka team consists of 11 people consisting of the core team and support team from the mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and environmental engineering study programs, along with their supervisors.
In 2021 and 2022, the Wasaka team also managed to qualify as finalists in the KMHE event. Along with the Wasaka team’s consistency in participating in KMHE events, the Wasaka Team also continues to develop and innovate the vehicle units they make. According to the Chairperson of the Wasaka Team Car, Afif Gunanjar M, who is a student of the Mechanical Engineering study program, the research currently being carried out is undergoing a major overhaul in the transmission section, which was originally carried out in 2022 by the team’s energy-saving car research which was designed with an automatic transmission, in 2023 will be changed to manual transmission. Apart from that, it is also acknowledged that improvements were made to the body and chassis, although not in full, only in the weakest points of this research.
Previously, ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., has met with the Wasaka team and stated that as Chancellor he was ready to provide funding for research needs and accommodation for the Wasaka Team while participating in the competition.
The Wasaka Team is scheduled to take part in the final competition which will be held on 30 October – 4 November 2023 at the Sentul Circuit, Bogor.
