ULM Psychology Student Wins First Place in 2026 Student Outstanding Selection, Ready to Advance to Regional Level
Banjarmasin – Muhammad Osmar Zaidan Al Wafi, a Psychology student from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, class of 2023, won first place in the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM).
The university-level Pilmapres selection was held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, with 22 students representing 11 faculties within ULM participating. This event provided a platform for students to showcase their academic and non-academic achievements, as well as their critical thinking skills in providing solutions to various strategic issues.
The Head of the ULM Pilmapres, Bernadetta Germia Aridamayanti, Ners., M.Kep., explained that this year’s ULM Pilmapres selection process consisted of two stages. The first stage consisted of a psychological test on March 5, 2026, while the second stage was the main selection, which included several assessment components.
“In the main selection, there are three assessment components. The first is creative ideas, where participants present solutions to various problems with select themes, such as SDGs, Impactful Campus, Astacita, and Revolution 5.0. This component carries a weighting of 35 percent,” she explained.
The second component is outstanding achievements, which assesses students’ various accomplishments in seven areas, such as competitions, community service, entrepreneurship, and other awards received during their studies.
“Participants must select their ten best achievements to be assessed by a panel of judges. This assessment also carries a weighting of 35 percent,” Bernadetta added.
The final component is a three-minute presentation in English, where participants present their most proud achievements, followed by a question-and-answer session with the judges. This component carries a weighting of 30 percent.
Through a rigorous selection process, Muhammad Osmar Zaidan Al Wafi achieved the highest score and was named the 2026 Outstanding Student of Lambung Mangkurat University.
Osmar will then be prepared to participate in the regional-level Pilmapres selection, scheduled for early April 2026. At this stage, participants will submit assessment documents and a video presentation in English before advancing to the national selection stage.
“We will provide intensive coaching for Osmar to prepare him for the regional selection. We hope he can advance to the national level and bring honor to Lambung Mangkurat University,” said Bernadetta.
This year, there is something new in the Pilmapres implementation at the national level. In addition to the categories for outstanding undergraduate and diploma students, the Ministry of Education and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) is also introducing a category for outstanding students with disabilities. Bernadetta stated that ULM plans to send representatives to this category in coordination with the ULM Center for Inclusive Education Development and Disability Services for the coaching process.
ULM remains committed to encouraging the development of outstanding students through various coaching and capacity building programs. With this support, it is hoped that more ULM students will be able to bring honor to the university at the regional, national, and international levels and become an inspiration for other young generations.
