Banjarmasin — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) continues to strengthen its commitment to expanding access to higher education for prospective students from various economic backgrounds through various scholarship programs. This information was conveyed by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of ULM, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si., during the 2026 ULM New Student Admissions (PMB) Socialization and Promotion event held on Friday (January 30, 2026).

In his presentation, Dr. Rusmin emphasized that scholarships are a strategic instrument for the university to ensure that all prospective students, especially those from underprivileged families, can access higher education equitably and inclusively.

“Through scholarships, the government and Lambung Mangkurat University want to facilitate all students with economic limitations to continue their education at university,” he said.

ULM offers various scholarship schemes, both funded by the state budget (APBN/APBD) and non-APBN/APBD funds. Government-supported scholarships include the KIP-Kuliah (Kiliyah for Students with Disabilities), Adik Dipabel (Papuan Children and the 3T), Seribu Sarjana (Thousand Scholars) for Balangan Regency, SMART for Tabalong Regency, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Scholarship, the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Excellence Scholarship, Pendidikan Indonesia (Indonesian Education Program), PDDI (Indonesian Student Advocacy Program), the Ministry of Health’s Affirmation Program, and several other affirmative programs.

Meanwhile, scholarships from non-government sources include Cendekia Baznas (National Zakat Agency), the Salim Foundation, the Salemba Empat Foundation (KSE), Bank Indonesia, VDMI Netherlands, IBFL Adaro, the Chaoren Pokphand Foundation, YBM BRI Bright Scholarship, BSI Scholarship Inspirasi (Inspirational Scholarship), the Djarum Plus Scholarship, and scholarship programs from various industry partners.

“Currently, around 6,000 students at Lambung Mangkurat University are registered as scholarship recipients, reflecting the university’s active role in managing and facilitating educational funding for students,” said Dr. Rusmin.

On this occasion, Dr. Rusmin also emphasized the importance of registering for the Indonesia Smart Card for College (KIP-Kuliah) from high school so students can enroll in college through the KIP-K program. He also reminded schools and prospective students to ensure complete documents before registering for state university admission.

In his presentation, Dr. Rusmin explained that KIP-Kuliah registration is integrated with the National Student Admissions System (SNPMB) and can only be completed through the National Achievement-Based Selection (SNBP) and National Test-Based Selection (SNBT) pathways. Prospective students are required to create a KIP-Kuliah account, complete their National Student Identification Number (NISN), National Student Identification Number (NPSN), and National Identity Number (NIK), complete all biodata and study plans, and synchronize the selection process through the SNPMB system.

For independent applicants from low-income families, ULM provides a reporting and mentoring mechanism to help them access other available scholarship schemes, including scholarships from the local government.

Through these various scholarship programs, Lambung Mangkurat University affirms its role as a state university committed to equitable access to education, social justice, and improving the quality of human resources in South Kalimantan and Indonesia. This effort is in line with ULM’s vision of creating inclusive, competitive, and sustainable higher education.
