Ternate – The annual forum for state university leaders from Eastern Indonesia, organized by KPTN-KTI, was successfully held in Ternate City, North Maluku, from October 19–21, 2025. Khairun University (Unkhair) was selected as the host university for KPTN-KTI 2025.

Unkhair Rector, Prof. Dr. Abdullah W. Jabid, SE., MM., expressed his pride. The event was attended by rectors, vice rectors, deans, and leaders of state universities from various provinces in eastern Indonesia, from Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Papua, and Kalimantan. On this occasion, ULM Rector, Prof. Ahmad Alim Bachri, as Chair of KPTN-KTI for the 2023-2025 period, served as the forum’s strategic agenda leader.

In his remarks, Prof. Ahmad emphasized that the forum should not only be a forum for inter-campus networking, but should also be a real catalyst for strengthening quality, research, and innovation in eastern Indonesia.

“This activity can strengthen collaboration between state universities in eastern Indonesia, both in education, research, and community service. Indonesia’s future rests on the eastern region, so universities in this region need to play a strategic role in accelerating national development rooted in local potential,” said Prof. Ahmad.

Prof. Ahmad also expressed his high appreciation to Unkhair for its dedication and readiness to host this year’s conference.

“Thank you for the hard work and extraordinary dedication of the Khairun University family. May this activity bring blessings to Unkhair and all universities in eastern Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, he encouraged all members of the KPTN-KTI to strengthen inter-campus collaboration—including lecturer/student exchanges, regionally-based research collaborations, and strengthening international accreditation—so that higher education in the eastern region can pursue not only quantity but also quality.

The event, themed “Impactful Campus Synergy: Accelerating Sustainable Development in Eastern Indonesia,” was officially opened by the Deputy Governor of North Maluku, H. Sarbin Sehe, and was also attended by the Ternate City Government. As host, Khairun University (Unkhair) enthusiastically welcomed the event. The event included welcoming participants and a three-day working forum.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Ahmad expressed his hope that the forum’s outcomes, including policy decisions, campus collaboration, and local government support, would be immediately implemented in the form of concrete programs that would impact the community and local development.
