ULM Rector Visits PSDKU Kotabaru, Strengthening Campus-Regional Synergy During Ramadan
Kotabaru – The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., visited Kotabaru for three days, February 25-27, 2026. On the first day of his arrival in Kotabaru with his entourage, the Rector held an iftar (breaking of the fast) event with students and staff of PSDKU (off-campus study programs) ULM Kotabaru to strengthen ties and togetherness.
The iftar event was attended by all students, staff, and lecturers from the PSDKU ULM Kotabaru home base. Several representatives from the Kotabaru regional government were also present to share warm moments of togetherness during this month of Ramadan.
All guests in attendance enjoyed the food and the iftar. The PSDKU ULM Kotabaru students were enthusiastic and took turns posing for photos with the Rector. After eating the iftar meal, the Rector, along with his entourage, students, and guests, attended Maghrib prayers in congregation at a nearby mosque.
This iftar gathering is expected to strengthen the bonds of friendship and warmth between university leaders, faculty, staff, and students at the PSDKU ULM Kotabaru. Currently, PSDKU ULM Kotabaru has 50 students across three study programs: Aquaculture, Agribusiness, and Special Education.
The distance between Kotabaru and Banjarmasin, where ULM’s main campus is located, is 265 kilometers, with the fastest travel time being approximately 6.5 hours by land and ferry. Therefore, PSDKU ULM Kotabaru was established as an effort to expand access to higher education and improve the quality of human resources in the region, in line with the Ministry of Education and Technology’s 2025-2029 strategic plan.
In addition to breaking the fast together, the ULM Chancellor is also scheduled to hold an audience with the Regent, give a public lecture to PSDKU Kotabaru students, and conduct a visit to the PSDKU learning facilities and several mangrove locations managed by the Berkah Wasaka Mandiri Cooperative in Kotabaru.
