ULM Affirms Commitment to Scientific Research and Publication Through ScienceDirect Access
The Head of the ULM Library, Noer Komari, S.Si., M.Kes., stated that the ULM academic community has been able to access ScienceDirect journals since last year. This demonstrates ULM’s readiness to optimally utilize this collaboration.
“It’s been two years now. This year, God willing, more journals will be accessible to our students and lecturers,” he said on Friday (January 9, 2026).
He explained that ULM students and lecturers can easily access ScienceDirect journals simply by using the official ULM email accounts (@mhs.ulm.ac.id or @ulm.ac.id). Going forward, the ULM Library also plans to conduct more extensive outreach to ensure optimal and equitable utilization of these international journals across all faculties.
The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., previously signed a cooperation agreement for access to Elsevier’s ScienceDirect international journals with dozens of universities within the Eastern Indonesia State University Consortium (KPTN-KTI).
The signing of this agreement took place on Monday, January 5, 2026. This collaboration demonstrates synergy between universities in eastern Indonesia to mutually support the procurement of access licenses for reputable international journals, particularly for developing universities, to improve the quality of academic output for students and lecturers.
This ScienceDirect journal access collaboration was pioneered by Hasanuddin University, Lambung Mangkurat University, and the University of Gorontalo, who agreed to build a mutual cooperation-based collaboration to strengthen scientific reference sources. Through a joint subscription mechanism, KPTN-KTI member universities can gain broader and more sustainable access to world-class scientific publications.
Through this collaboration, Lambung Mangkurat University not only expands access to global scientific literature but also affirms its commitment to fostering a culture of research, scientific publication, and improving the quality of higher education. ULM is optimistic that this strategic collaboration will lay a strong foundation for producing superior, relevant, and internationally competitive academic work.
