ULM Students Shine at the VII Rector Cup National Pencak Silat Championship, Winning Medals and Affirming National Competitiveness

Banjarmasin, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved impressive results through its students’ achievements in the 2025 ULM VII Rector Cup National Pencak Silat Championship. The national event, held from November 13–16, 2025, demonstrates ULM’s commitment to supporting the development of student interests, talents, and achievements in sports.

The VII Rector Cup National Championship, organized by the PSHT Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the University of Lambung Mangkurat Commissariat, is a biennial event designed to foster and develop pencak silat athletes, particularly students. This activity also serves as a strategic tool for preserving pencak silat as a national cultural heritage.

Carrying the theme “Upholding Culture and Achieving Achievement Together with the PSHT Student Activity Unit (UKM) of the ULM Commissariat,” the championship attracted 274 athletes from 39 contingents from various regions across Kalimantan and Java. Over the four days of the competition, 340 matches were held across the youth and adult categories. ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the organization of the championship and the achievements of the student athletes.

As the host, the PSHT Student Activity Unit (UKM) contingent from Lambung Mangkurat University performed competitively and achieved various achievements. Athlete M. Amin (FKIP) won third place in the Adult Men’s Competition Class A, Hamid Ibrahim (FKIP) won third place in Class D, Dina Fatimatuzzahra (FKIP) won second place in the Female Class D, Weldy Yunanda Situmorang (FISIP) won third place in Class E, Alfina Damayana (FT) won third place in the Female Class E, and Ridho Aji Saputra (FH) won third place in Class G. In the arts category, the Adult Women’s Team Arts team, consisting of Dina Fatimatuzzahra, Nadia Febrianti, and Widea Safitri (FKIP), won first place. Overall, the ULM PSHT (Student Activity Unit) in the adult category won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while the youth category won 2 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

The competition was divided into two categories: adult and youth. In the youth category, the overall champion was SMPN 11 Banjarmasin, followed by the ULM PSHT A team, and then TSC Tanah Laut.

In the final results, SMPN 11 Banjarmasin won the overall championship in the youth category, while the Banjarbaru City Branch of PSHT won the adult category. Through the 7th Rector Cup National Championship, Lambung Mangkurat University reaffirmed its commitment to developing student athletes and preserving pencak silat at the national level.
