Pidie Jaya, Aceh – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) sent a humanitarian aid team to Buangan Village, Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh. This assistance focused on health services, psycho-social support, and logistical distribution for disaster survivors, and took place from December 20–27, 2025.

This activity was led by Dr. dr. Meitria Syahadatina Noor, M.Kes., and involved a ULM multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, public health experts in nutrition and environmental health, and students from the Anesthesia and Surgery Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS).

One of the team members, Agung Waskito, S.T., M.T., a lecturer in the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, ULM, explained that ULM’s presence at the disaster site was not only for emergency assistance but also for ongoing health services.

Upon arrival in Pidie Jaya, the ULM team will establish an aid post that will serve as a medical and psychosocial service center, providing mental recovery support for child disaster survivors. On the first day, the team is scheduled to employ a door-to-door approach, visiting survivors’ homes to conduct direct health checks, particularly for vulnerable groups who have difficulty accessing healthcare facilities.

In addition to healthcare services, ULM will also distribute various logistical assistance, including medicines, men’s and women’s clothing, baby food, snacks, food supplies, and hygiene and sanitation supplies. Meanwhile, ULM’s PPDS Surgery and PPDS Anesthesia students will be assigned to the nearest regional hospital to support medical services for disaster victims.

The aid distribution will be divided into two groups: the first from December 20–24 and the second from December 23–27, 2025. Each group will consist of five healthcare workers and support staff, ensuring continuous service delivery.

This humanitarian activity was funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology through the PKM BIMA program specifically for Aceh disaster management, along with support from donors.

Through this action, ULM affirmed its commitment to integrating the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly community service, with direct presence in disaster-affected communities, while simultaneously strengthening the role of universities as agents of humanitarianism and national solidarity.
