International Seminar on Child Behavior Problems in Riverbank Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, ULM: Humanistic Guidance and Counseling in Wetland Education

Banjarmasin – The Guidance and Counseling Department (JBK) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an international seminar entitled “Humanistic Literacy in Wetland Education: Guidance and Counseling Services Based on the Fun School Movement for Riverbank Youth” on Thursday (11/12).

The event took place in the General Building Lecturer Theater at ULM, starting at 8:00 a.m. WITA. This seminar was part of the “Problems of Child Behavior in Riverbanks” course for JBK students from the class of 2024. Participants included both lecturers and students, both in-person and online.

The event was opened by Ali Rachman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni of FKIP ULM. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation to the committee and considered this event a positive first step towards developing international-scale academic activities in the future. Several speakers presented materials, both from within and outside the country.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Suriansyah, Professor of JPGSD and PG-PAUD ULM, delivered a presentation entitled “Developing Literacy with a Humanistic Approach.” An international speaker, Darlyn Joy E. Tesoro, RGC., Director of Counseling Services at the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC) Philippines, presented online with a presentation entitled “Adversity, Behavior, and Resilience: Guidance and Counseling Interventions for Children in Riverbank Communities.” Meanwhile, Ali Sodikin, Facilitator of the Fun School Movement, presented a presentation on “Social Emotional Learning Humanist Literacy in Wetland Education.”

Nina Permatasari, Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at ULM, emphasized that this international seminar was not only a course output but also part of the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. She considered the topic relevant in opening up opportunities for developing more inclusive and adaptive guidance and counseling services, especially for adolescents in riverbank areas.
