Hamdani and Darianto, JPBSI Students from FKIP ULM, Win Medals at the South Kalimantan Provincial Paralympic Games

Tanah Laut – Two students with special needs from the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (JPBSI), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), successfully brought honor to the university at the 5th South Kalimantan Provincial Paralympic Games (Peparprov), held in Tanah Laut Regency, November 20–26, 2025.

The championship featured 12 sports with participation from 13 regencies/cities across South Kalimantan. A total of 1,330 participants took part, consisting of 977 athletes and 353 officials.

On the field, Hamdani won one silver medal and two bronze medals in the low-vision category for judo. Meanwhile, Darianto achieved a bronze medal in the men’s 100-meter freestyle swimming event for the visually impaired.

Hamdani expressed his gratitude and happiness for this achievement. He emphasized that the achievement was the result of long and consistent training. “Intensive and continuous training is the key to achieving success and proves that hard work can lead to proud accomplishments,” he said.

Meanwhile, Darianto revealed that he felt nervous at the start of the competition. However, his strong determination to achieve his best motivated him to complete the race with all his might. “A deep sense of pride emerged when he crossed the finish line and stood on the podium as a medal winner,” he said.

The achievements of Hamdani and Darianto are clear evidence that passion, perseverance, and dedication can lead ULM students to brilliant achievements. Lambung Mangkurat University expressed its appreciation for this success and hopes that it will inspire other students to continue to excel and develop their potential.
