Lambung Mangkurat University Selects Outstanding Students for National Competition

Banjarmasin, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) once again held the prestigious University-level Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) on Thursday (March 12, 2026). This event aims to identify the best students who excel not only academically but also possess organizational skills, foreign language skills, and critical thinking abilities.

The event was officially opened by ULM’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Rusmin Nuryadin, M.Si. In his remarks, he emphasized that Pilmapres is not just a competition, but a platform for students to demonstrate real contributions through scientific papers and outstanding achievements.

“Pilmapres is a portrait of the quality of ULM students. We hope that the selected representatives will be able to bring honor to the university, not only regionally, but also nationally and internationally,” said Dr. Rusmin.

The event took place solemnly, attended by the leadership and technical team of student affairs, including the Head of the ULM Student Administration Agency (BAAK), the Talent and Achievement Working Group (Pokja Talenta Prestasi), the PIC of the Student Student Council (Pilmapres), the Coordinator of Student and Alumni Development, and the Sub-Coordinators and Staff of the Student Interest, Talent, Reasoning, and Information Sub-Division. The presence of these stakeholders demonstrated the university’s serious commitment to overseeing the selection process to ensure it is objective and high-quality.

This year, faculty enthusiasm was particularly high. Twenty-two top students, each representing all faculties within ULM, competed in this event. After a rigorous assessment process, including document selection of outstanding achievements, creative idea presentations, and English language skills, the panel of judges selected the top six finalists. These finalists will receive further coaching to represent ULM in the next stage.
