Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) ULM Strengthens Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pulmonology Specialist Programs through International Collaboration with the University of Malaya

Kuala Lumpur – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) continues to expand its international network by holding discussions on collaborative agreements and visiting hospital facilities at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, and the Universiti Malaya Medical Center (UMMC). The event, held on November 24-25, 2025, is a strategic step in strengthening the development of the Obstetrics and Gynecology (Obgyn) and Pulmonology Specialist Programs at FKIK ULM.

This visit is a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between FKIK ULM and the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, which was previously established through collaboration in the Nursing Study Program. Through a warm and comprehensive discussion, the two institutions agreed to expand the scope of collaboration to include specialist study programs.

The Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Agianto, S.Kep., Ners., Ph.D., stated that this expanded collaboration represents a significant opportunity for ULM to improve the quality of education and academic services.

“So far, the collaboration has only been implemented with the Nursing study program. Following this discussion, collaboration has been established with the specialist doctor study program. Next year, we plan to expand the collaboration to include the Undergraduate Medical Education study program,” he said.

This collaboration will be implemented through the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, encompassing various activities such as guest lecturers, seminars, conferences, professor visits, student exchanges, faculty and staff exchanges, as well as collaborative research and scientific publications. Furthermore, the collaboration is also aimed at strengthening community service through relevant health programs.

By strengthening this international collaboration, ULM affirms its commitment to providing quality medical education of global standards and expanding internationalization opportunities for students, lecturers, and healthcare workers within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK). This step is expected to provide a strong foundation for developing specialist doctor competencies and improving healthcare services in South Kalimantan.
