ULM Master of Management Public Lecture: Strategy and Risk as Drivers of Sustainable Growth
Banjarmasin – The Master of Management (MM) Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), successfully held a public lecture on a highly relevant and crucial topic for the business and corporate world, “Aligning Strategy and Risk: Advancing Risk Leadership to Drive Business Growth and Sustainability.” The event, held on Saturday (November 22, 2025) in the Lecture Theater of FEB ULM, was attended by students and lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business. The moderator was Dr. Maya Sari Dewi, S.E., M.M.
The public lecture was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, represented by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Muzdalifah, S.E., M.M. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of integrating risk management into every aspect of business strategy to ensure long-term growth and sustainability.
“We are very proud that two of the speakers at this event are ULM alumni. We hope this activity can provide insight and motivation for all students to continue striving and improving their skills to become experts in their respective fields,” she said.
The event continued with an opening speech from the Coordinator of the ULM Master of Management Study Program, Dr. Meiske Claudia, S.E., M.M. Dr. Meiske explained that this theme was chosen to equip students and participants with a deep understanding of how effective risk leadership can be a key driver of organizational success amidst ever-changing market dynamics.
“The theme of this public lecture is highly relevant to the dynamics of the business world, where organizations are required to have not only a clear strategy but also strong risk leadership. The alignment between strategy and risk management is the foundation that drives business growth while maintaining long-term sustainability,” said Dr. Meiske.
This public lecture featured two speakers: Dr. Robertus M. Bambang Gunawan, S.H., M.M., M.Kn. and M. Adnan Yulizar, S.P., M.M. The speakers comprehensively discussed the paradigm shift in risk management, where risk is no longer viewed merely as a threat to be avoided, but rather as a strategic element that, if properly managed, can open up new opportunities for business growth and innovation.
They highlighted the concept of Risk Leadership, which is the ability of leaders to identify, evaluate, and respond to uncertainty in a way that supports the company’s strategic objectives. The discussion also included case studies and best practices in aligning risk frameworks with the organization’s vision and mission.
This activity is part of the ULM Master of Management Study Program’s commitment to providing quality and up-to-date education, bridging academic theory with the practical needs of the workplace. Through this public lecture, participants are expected to gain knowledge and insights that can be applied as future leaders capable of managing risk proactively and strategically.
