Rachelle Xaverine Nyomanto Wins International Exposure Award from Djarum Beswan, Selected to Represent Indonesia at EuroMUN 2026
Banjarmasin — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved a proud achievement. Rachelle Xaverine Nyomanto, a student in the Faculty of Dentistry, was selected as one of 10 winners of the 2025 International Exposure Award from Djarum Beswan. She outperformed more than 500 other participants and will represent Indonesia at the 2026 European Model United Nations (EuroMUN) in the Netherlands, with the full cost covered by the Djarum Foundation.
The 2025 International Exposure Award from Djarum Beswan is a prestigious competition that assesses the academic abilities, leadership, and diplomatic capacity of its participants. This year, the selection process ran from October 7–31, with 534 Djarum Beswans from across Indonesia participating. Participants were required to undergo a rigorous selection process, including a CV assessment, an English test, an essay writing competition, and the creation of a video speech in English simulating the role of the Indonesian Minister of International Relations.
In the substantive assessment stage, Rachelle addressed global issues she considered most pressing and relevant to her personal vision. In her speech for the EuroMUN 2026 selection, she discussed the correlation between early marriage and societal well-being, and how multilateral collaboration can be key to resolving these issues globally. In the essay competition, she highlighted the global inequality crisis and its impact on public health and education.
“These issues are important to address because they concern the future of the younger generation. I want to show that students from regional areas, including ULM, can have a global perspective and make real contributions,” Rachelle explained.
Rachelle admitted that preparing for the competition was quite challenging, especially since she had to juggle her TOEFL test schedule with her busy academic schedule at the Faculty of Dentistry.
“I secured my TOEFL score first, then prepared my CV, wrote the essay, and composed and recorded the speech. I completed all of this in 10–12 days, amidst a busy class schedule,” she said.
Furthermore, she feels a moral responsibility to build on the achievements of her seniors, who for two consecutive years were selected as ULM delegates in the same event—Chikaliani Sonya (2024) and Vieri Adi Dharma Puguh Putra (2023). As one of the 10 winners, Rachelle is now participating in national training, which will be held intensively every weekend by the Djarum Foundation. This training focuses on deepening the United Nations (UN) diplomatic system, Model United Nations conference techniques, and strengthening teamwork skills between delegations.
At EuroMUN 2026, Indonesian delegates will compete alongside students from various countries worldwide in a multi-day international diplomacy simulation forum. Rachelle hopes to fulfill her role well and represent Indonesia and ULM at their best.
“I hope to be able to speak out on issues that are important to Indonesia, especially those related to public health and welfare. I ask for your prayers and support,” she said.
Rachelle’s achievements demonstrate that ULM students possess quality, global capacity, and the ability to compete internationally.
