One Drop of Blood, a Thousand Hopes: KSR PMI ULM Encourages Younger Generation to Care for Others
Banjarmasin – The Indonesian Red Cross Volunteer Corps (KSR PMI) ULM Unit once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian activities by holding a blood drive on Monday, November 24, 2025. The event, which took place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time), was held at the General Building of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Banjarmasin and received a positive response from the ULM academic community.
As an organization dedicated to humanitarian work, KSR PMI ULM Banjarmasin consistently holds blood drives to help fulfill the blood supply at the Indonesian Red Cross. The Commander of KSR PMI ULM Banjarmasin, Maulina, stated that this blood drive is not just a routine program, but also a tangible manifestation of concern for the ever-increasing need for blood in various healthcare facilities. According to her, blood donation is a simple contribution that has a significant impact on the safety of many people.
“We are holding this activity as a way to make a direct impact on the community. We hope that more donors will be motivated to donate blood so they can help those in need,” she said.
Through the theme “One Drop of Blood, a Thousand Hopes,” the KSR PMI ULM Banjarmasin Unit wants to encourage more members of society, especially the younger generation, to realize that donating blood not only helps others but also benefits the donor’s health. This theme was chosen to symbolize that every drop of donated blood can provide new hope for patients in need of transfusions, whether due to emergencies, major surgery, or certain diseases that require a continuous blood supply.
Furthermore, this activity also serves as a means of educating the public about the importance of regular blood donation. KSR PMI volunteers also provided information regarding the benefits of donating blood, the pre-donation health checkup process, and safe blood collection procedures that comply with medical standards. This was done to alleviate the concerns of potential donors, especially those who are participating for the first time.
This blood drive involved medical personnel from the Banjarmasin Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) who ensured the entire process ran smoothly and adhered to health and safety protocols. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident in the number of donors in attendance, including students, lecturers, education staff, and members of the general public.
With this event, the KSR PMI Unit ULM Banjarmasin hopes that the culture of blood donation will continue to grow on campus and in the wider community. This humanitarian act is expected to be a tangible contribution to helping others and maintaining the supply of much-needed blood for patients in various hospitals.
