Magelang — The largest national student entrepreneurship competition, KMI Expo XVI 2025, officially opened at Tidar University, Magelang, on November 19–21, 2025. This event brought together hundreds of students from various universities, local governments, and creative industry players. This year, the KMI Expo also featured a Cultural Parade involving approximately 1,200 participants, showcasing the richness of Indonesian traditions combined with the creativity of the younger generation.

With the theme “Local Initiative, National Power,” the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, who is also the Chairperson of the Committee, stated that this year’s KMI Expo 2025 aims to showcase student entrepreneurship within the framework of Indonesian culture.

Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was one of the participants, highlighting the presence of four student entrepreneurial teams that presented innovative products based on South Kalimantan’s local resources. During the judging session, each team presented their added value, business sustainability, and proposed solutions to the judges.

The four leading products representing ULM at the KMI Expo 2025 are:

  1. Hello’s — Kelakai Dimsum. Offering dimsum made from kelakai, a plant native to South Kalimantan with numerous benefits. Dimsum options include steamed, mentai, crunchy, and frozen dimsum. Hello’s embodies local flavors in a modern, practical culinary experience with high sales value.
  2. Si Cantic — Sasirangan Crafts Made from Plastic Canvas. This brand combines sasirangan motifs with plastic canvas to create functional products such as sling bags, tumblers, wallets, key chains, binder covers, and coasters. Si Cantic showcases students’ creative efforts in preserving Banjar culture through contemporary design.
  3. Banjarese — Natural Mosquito Repellent Spray. Using citronella and cinnamon extracts, Banjarese offers a natural, DEET-free, environmentally friendly mosquito repellent alternative. This product provides a safe, everyday health solution.
  4. Hyperfit — Fitness Class Service. Hyperfit offers fitness classes with a personalized training approach that can be tailored to the user’s needs. This service offers a flexible and easily accessible healthy lifestyle option, especially for urban communities.

The Mayor of Magelang, Damar Prasetyono, who had the opportunity to attend in person and witness the excitement and enthusiasm of the participants at this event, expressed optimism for the future of student entrepreneurship in Indonesia.

“I hope this will give birth to new collaborations, new businesses, and new entrepreneurial leaders who will have a significant impact on our republic,” he said.

Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni of ULM, Dr. M. Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Si., also expressed his appreciation for the students’ efforts and work.

“We are very proud to see the creativity and courage of ULM students in bringing local potential to the national level. These works demonstrate not only innovation but also a commitment to benefiting society. The university will continue to support, facilitate, and provide as much space as possible for students to grow into outstanding and competitive young entrepreneurs,” he said.

ULM’s participation in the KMI Expo XVI 2025 demonstrates the students’ enthusiasm for building an innovative, adaptive, and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through the creative works on display, the ULM team successfully demonstrated their capacity as young entrepreneurs capable of competing at the national level while simultaneously elevating regional potential to a broader audience.

As a university committed to developing a superior generation, ULM continues to encourage the development of students’ interests and talents in entrepreneurship. Support through coaching, mentoring, and networking at various national events demonstrates ULM’s efforts to facilitate the birth of high-value innovations. ULM hopes this momentum will further inspire other students to create, compete, and make a positive impact on society.
